New members ratify first contract at Harbour Light in Kingston

03 March, 2022

Kingston, ON – Just before Christmas 2021 the 20 employees of Harbour Light in Kingston voted to join the IAM Union. Last week they ratified their first agreement. “Although it is a solid first agreement, we were held to 1% raises increases due to Doug Ford’s Bill 124,” stated District 78 Business Rep Jim Snider.

The 2-year agreement was back-dated with retroactive pay and a signing bonus, but the 1% wage increases were tough to take.

Snider went on to say, “Committee member Marissa Moore did a great job keeping us focused on improving workplace issues.”

Harbour Light is a residential addictions center located in Kingston, Ontario and our members provide residential care and counselling for their clients. They are part of Local 1295.
