GVP David Chartrand joins Leucan Shaved Head Challenge for kids diagnosed with cancer

To all Friends family and to all my siblings in our labour family. Please take a few minutes to read the following important message

Multiple IAMAW members including myself have decided to join a fellow member of Local Lodge 712 to fundraise for an incredible cause https://www.leucan.qc.ca/en/ . The Leucan Shaved Head challenge is a major fundraising campaign that raises money for clinical research in pediatric oncology, and supports families with ongoing psychological and financial support. More than just a fundraising campaign, Shaved Heads stands in solidarity with children who lose their hair while undergoing chemotherapy, and shaved heads have become a symbol of love and acceptance for all children fighting undergoing a terrible and deadly disease.

On May 26th 2023 multiple members working with Alexandre Bourdon who have been touched by the ordeal his family has been through, will have their heads shaved in order to raise funds to give back to the organisation that supported them as they have so many other families.

The fundraising goal was set at $5000 dollars, which we hope to surpass. This is an ordeal so many families have been through, and one that no child should experience, and I ask you to help us reach this fundraising goal. “For those who are not aware, my daughter Laurence is currently in remission from cancer since last August. During the 26 months of treatment, Leucan supported us by helping us pay for certain medications, by offering us weekends off and many activities for the family. Now it’s our turn to give back. On May 26th, I have decided to take the shaved head challenge. For those who are interested in supporting my cause, the cause of sick children you can click on the links provided!
