Fabrene Members Ratify Deal, Secure Gains Amid Ownership Change

Approximately 140 members at Fabrene, a Magnera Company and part of Local 2922 in North Bay, have ratified a new collective agreement.

Following a recent ownership change, negotiations presented challenges as the new employer continues to learn the business. In response, the bargaining committee secured a two-year agreement to reflect current conditions while positioning members for future gains.

The committee—John Lagassie, Riley Hall, Chris DeMarchi, Paul Marker, and Mark Larente—delivered on key priorities, including:

Wage increases in both years
Recognition of Family Day
Stronger language for disciplinary and harassment investigations
Improved vacation payouts for shift workers

The agreement also introduces a long-sought full-time day position within the plant’s 24/7 operations.

Members showed strong support for the deal and are well-positioned for the next round of bargaining.

Congratulations to District 78’s, DBR Eric Johnston, for securing a strong agreement that delivers real gains and stronger protections for the membership.
