District 140 Bulletin – Air Canada TMOS – Off-Duty Status
TO ALL IAMAW MEMBERS OF AIR CANADA – TMOS
ARTICLE 20.14 – OFF DUTY STATUS
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
On March 19th the General Chairpersons representing Air Canada TMOS, Finance and Clerical bargaining unit members attended a much-anticipated conference call with Air Canada Labour Relations.
The IAMAW was officially notified of Air Canada’s intention to place a significant yet unidentified number of TMOS members on Off-Duty Status as per Article 20.14 of the Collective Agreement. This action is in response to the current COVID-19 health crisis and the travel restriction decisions made by national governments – significantly reducing Air Canada’s international, transborder and domestic network/destinations.
Cargo Operations, the Finance Department and the Clerical Department are still assessing their operational needs due to this international health crisis.
The total number of Members that this decision will affect by station, category and classification WAS NOT provided.
Prior to the conference call, the union leadership at all levels have been working around the clock preparing our positions and asking questions regarding the administration of Article 20.14.
Once Air Canada provides the Union with further details updates will be communicated to our Members.
In Solidarity,
Steve Prinz
General Chairperson – Western Region
