IAM Local 1922 negotiates better contract, ratifies deal
IAM Local 1922 members employed by Swiss Steel, Mississauga (formerly Schmoltz-Bickenbach Canada) ratified a new collective agreement on Saturday October 23. The members identified their priorities and the committee worked tirelessly to convey these priorities to their employer.
“Special thanks to negotiating committee members (in picture) Pradeep Chadha and Quentin Park for all their hard work. They truly were the voice of their members during this process”, said District 78 Directing Business Representative Kim Valliere.
The ratified agreement provides improvements to overtime and job posting language, increases to all shift premiums and safety vision care. Vacation entitlement increases to 5 weeks’ vacation after 20 years, and wage increases of each year of the agreement.
