For immediate release

Toronto, ON – Members of IAM Local 1922 who are staff of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union (COPE Ontario) voted almost 80% in favour of the employer’s offer last night.

The 14 members had been on strike against their employer, COPE Ontario since 19 September, 2019. They return to work today.

“At the end of the day, when members vote, members win. The vote was loud and clear, and our members are eager to return to work. We also want to thank the labour movement, who supported us in our struggle,” said Jim Snider, IAM District 78 Business Representative.

Labour Relations Specialists and Administrative staff from the Canadian Office and Professional Employees (COPE) joined the IAM in October 2018. The IAM has become the new home for several groups of business representatives from other unions across Canada – UFCW, Canadian Labour Congress, Nova Scotia Government Employees, Elementary Teachers of Toronto and the IBEW in Sudbury.
