Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 16 have ratified their fourth collective agreement with Securiguard at Vancouver International Airport.
Overall, there was a 3% wage increase per year for the four-year contract, a signing bonus of $250.00 for part-time members and $500.00 for full-time members, paid parking agreement, an increase to vacation time after 15 years and improvements on scheduling work hours and shifts.
The 213 members who provide security at the airport, voted in favour of the new contract which runs from April 1 2019 to April 1 2023.
Bargaining Committee members Ashok Narsih, Cristian Gherman, Fady Bestawros and Leo Mendonca have been in bargaining since August. “The Negotiations Committee did a great job”, said IAM District Lodge 140 General Chairperson, Todd Haverstock, who assisted the team in negotiations. “They held their ground on the important issues and in the end delivered an agreement that the membership overwhelmingly endorsed.”
The IAMAW is the largest union in the Canadian air transport sector.
