IAM Local 1758 in Laval vote to extend contract by three years
23 January, 2021
For immediate release
Laval, QC – 97 IAM members working for Hèroux-Devtek ratified a contract with the Montreal-area manufacturing, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. The contract was accepted by almost 70 percent of the membership. The previous contract expired on 31 December, 2021.
As part of the new contract, they will receive 2.15%, 2.20% and 2.25% wage increases, helped, in part, by an investment of $11.3 million by the company, including an expansion of the plant in Laval! The contract runs from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2024.
“With the pandemic hitting us very hard in the aviation sector, I believe that this case will create a certain sustainability and a three-year guarantee in terms of wage increases,” said Luc Morasse, Business Representative for IAM District 11 in Montreal.
The 97 members manufacture, overhaul and repair aircraft landing gear for both commercial and military aircraft including the Learjet-85, Sikorsky CH-53K and Embraer Legacy 450-500. Héroux-Devtek operates three facilities adjacent to Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport in suburban Montréal.
