Toronto, ON – Members at IAM Local 235 working at Hobart Food Equipment Group Canada ratified a new 3-year agreement on Monday evening. Due to COVID restrictions, the group met virtually to discuss the changes to the collective agreement and conducted their vote online.
“The committee, consisting of Steven Straub, Kumar Balkaran, and Chee Leong, were very effective in advancing the interests of the membership and setting the stage for future rounds of bargaining,” said Eric Johnston, Business Representative for IAM District 78.
The membership demonstrated strong support of the changes to the agreement which included language improvements, increases to pension, boot allowances, on-call premium, wages, and the introduction of a family optical benefit.
The members consist of one warehouse worker and 12 service technicians that service Hobart Industrial food preparation equipment used in restaurants and the food industry across Ontario.
