IAM Local 1722 members in Edmonton ratify new contract

Edmonton, AB – Members working at Cummins ULC in Edmonton have ratified their new contract. The vote was conducted by paper ballot as well as electronic voting to accommodate as many members as possible.

The highlights are:

  • The multi-year deal is with 9% overall in wage increases and includes full retroactivity
  • Variable Compensation Program gives members at least $3000 – $4000 each in March of each year of the contract depending on their gross income.
  • The Variable Benefit program allows our members to choose what’s best for their family or themselves. This innovation to the contract was appreciated by the members.
  • Prime time vacation period during the summer (June to first week of September) which guarantees a minimum of 2 weeks regardless of seniority. This was also new and appreciated by the membership.

Kevin Clark, Directing Business Representative (DBR) of IAM District 14 coordinated the negotiations and thanked the Negotiating Committee for their hard work, especially during the pandemic. “It was challenging, but we managed to get it done with a few more gains for our members,” he concluded.

Local 1722 is a composite local consisting of seven different units, including these 65 members working at this Cummins dealership.
