New members continue success with first contract for 500 RNS workers

26 October, 2021

Toronto, ON – After months of negotiations, the over 500 new IAM members employed by RNS Health Care Services overwhelmingly ratified their first contract. “These were difficult negotiations and it was done it completely virtually. We never met face-to-face with the employer. This is a big win for our new members,” said Jim Snider, IAM District 78 Business representative.

The two-year deal secures contract language that provides for wage and vacation increases, along with a structure on hours of work, and securing a T2200 tax form.

IAM District 78 Directing Business Representative, Kim Valliere and Jim Snider would like to thank the Negotiating Committee Jin Won Kang, Ho Yee Kwan, Mary Lamanna, Rootisha Rampat and Ben Osakue for their tireless work and commitment. “They never gave up and were there every step of the way. We also want to thank the members at RNS. They were patient and gave us the support needed to be successful in reaching this agreement, stated Kim.

The workers joined the IAM in July 2020. They will join IAM Local 901. Read the press release.

RNS is a home healthcare company that mainly services the Region of York north of Toronto.
