Toronto, ON – DL78 Local 1922 member employed by ETT (Elementary Teachers of Toronto) filed a grievance regarding health benefit coverage during an accommodation.

The grievance proceeded to arbitration and the union was successful, we won the case including full reimbursement of health benefits payments for our member who had to cover premium payments on their own through payroll deductions while working reduced hours.

“We are very pleased this arbitration was awarded in the favour of our member, the IAM fought hard and persistently for what is right”, said Directing Business Representative Kim Valliere.

The IAM represents office staff employed at the Elementary Teachers of Toronto, as well as many other staff working for unions. The IAM has become the new home for several groups of business representatives and other staff from unions across Canada.
