IAM Local Lodge 1863 Retirees Club Honours Legacy of Goderich, Ontario Workers
More than 200 former IAM members, family, and friends were in attendance at Lions Harbour Park in Goderich, Ontario, on Sunday, July 21, 2019, as the IAM Local Lodge 1863 Retirees Club hosted a 10-year anniversary to honour past employees of the Volvo motor graders plant.
The Volvo plant, which was previously the largest employer in Goderich, closed in 2009, displacing 500 loyal, veteran employees and IAM members, sending shock waves through the community.
IAM District 78 Representatives, Kim Valliere and Eric Johnston, along with Local Lodge 1975’s Ken Atterbury, were also in attendance to honour the legacy of the Goderich workers.
