IAM Healthcare Local Lodge 1295 member Vivianne Simon recently appeared in an IAM video on voting rights. Although it was released several weeks ago and is chiefly about the US, it is worth sharing with members who might not have seen it. Vivianne has been involved in negotiations with her employer and has been active in her Local for many years. Well done sister!

IAM Local Lodge 1295 Women’s Committee member, Betty Williams, was recently at the District 78 Toronto office to show how she has been spending her time in physical distancing. Betty has been busy knitting slippers for the homeless, which will be delivered to a local Etobicoke shelter for distribution to those in need. Sister Williams is a proud 51 year IAM member, who, in retirement, continues to support her Union and her community.

IAM Local Lodge 1295 members employed at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre (UCCC) ratified a new three year agreement. Our members made gains in wages along with improvements to benefits and contract language. The sisters hit the ground running and already have an idea of what they would like to do. IAM Local Lodge 1295 presented Sister Betty Williams with an IAM watch in recognition of her 50 years of service as an IAM member. In addition to attending many conferences on behalf of her Local, Betty is also the Recording Secretary for 1295.
